Obvious factors contributing to this large rental price increase are a severe shortage of quality houses and and apartments, as well as the possible imposition of rent controls, which may have caused some landlords to sell their properties. Another factor is the increased attractiveness of AirBnB rental income, over the traditional model. A pickup in the economy, as well as the Central Bank mortgage controls, are responsible for increased demand versus a limited supply. Dublin rents are currently at their greatest levels since mid-summer 2010. Based on the average rental prices being achieved in 2010, Dublin rents are now 65% higher. DAFT DUBLIN RENTS REPORT Q4 2016
